A 66-year old Franklin man is facing charges today after an apparent road rage incident involving an off-duty officer.

Michael Trainor was arrested by Franklin Police on charges including assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly pulled a gu

n on a Macon County Deputy.

Franklin Police Chief David Adams explains the incident started around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

“The Macon County off-duty officer was heading north on Green Street. A gentleman was driving erratically and she passed him. He then became aggressive and this crossed several streets in Franklin, and at some point he pointed a gun at her. Fortunately, no one was injured and no shots were fired.”

Trainor was booked into the Macon County jail on a $12,000 bond and is expected in court January 10.

“I don’t know what was going through his mind, but apparently he was upset when she passed him. There’s absolutely no reason for him to do that,” Adams said.
