After coaching at schools from Duke University to Franklin High School, former football coach Fred Goldsmith has a few stories to tell.

Those parts of his life have been revealed in a new book written by Goldsmith and his daughter Kim McDaniel.

Goldsmith will be signing copies of his recently released book Comeback Coach at two locations in Franklin in the coming weeks.

McDaniel talks about the focus of Coach Goldsmith’s memoirs, “The book is the story about how Coach Goldsmith was mentored and how every step along the way that God brought different coaches, different players into his life to teach him how to become the man and the coach he is today.”

Many players and coaches who consider Goldsmith a mentor contributed their perspective to the book.

Included in the book, a chapter dedicated to his time at Franklin High School, “The Franklin part talks about deciding to come to Franklin after leaving Duke. He came out of retirement to coach at Franklin High School and really enjoyed it. He still has a relationship with a lot of the players.”

Goldsmith will sign copies of his book on Saturday, December 1, at Sportszone from 12 to 3 and then again on December 7 at Books Unlimited on Main Street from 5 to 8 p.m.
