The Highway Patrol indicates icy roads and speeding triggered a Sunday morning accident that injured a 25-year-old Franklin man.

North Carolina State Trooper Leah McCall investigated the single car accident that occurred February 3 at 10 a.m. Trooper McCall says Jason Cretacci was traveling North on U.S. 23 in a 1998 Dodge pick-up when he fishtailed and ran out of the road to the right, struck an embankment and overturned.

The driver sustained evident injuries but they were not considered serious. He was charged with exceeding a safe speed.
