The Franklin Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for The Filling Station Thrift Store located at 615 Highlands Road.

The Filling Station of Franklin is a non-profit purposed to support the mission of Kids Against Hunger-Franklin: feeding families around the corner and around the world.

The Filling Station Thrift Store operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday in support of that mission selling clothes, shoes, household items and more.

All profits are channeled to Kids Against Hunger. We are grateful for the financial gifts that help us meet our goals more quickly. All gifts are tax-deductible.

Kids Against Hunger-Franklin packages tasty, highly nutritious, low cost meals that are easy to ship, store and prepare. When sufficient funds are gathered to purchase the ingredients for a packaging event, the event is scheduled, volunteers are recruited and ingredients are gathered for the high energy, large volume event. In just a few hours, thousands of meals are packaged and boxed ready to deliver to those who distribute directly to those in need.

On November 3rd, 31,968 meals were packaged in 4 hours. On November 5th, those meals were distributed to organizations in Western NC that distribute directly to those in need. Due to the great response of those eager to participate, we anticipate an even larger event in the near future.
