After what’s proven a harsh flu season, the number of flu cases here in North Carolina appears to be tapering off.

Becky Barr, with Macon County Public Health, updated the board of health this week about flu cases saying the peak of the flu season was noted in the week ending December 29, 2012. Since then the numbers in the state have been sharply declining.

Macon County Public health gave 2,050 vaccinations this season, 200 of which were high dose.
