The price for gas in North Carolina is nearing what it was in December of 2011. As of Thursday, AAA reports the average price for regular is $3.32, down a nickel from a month ago, and nearly as low as last December when North Carolina gas averaged $3
.28.
According to analysts, prices should continue a downward trend toward the end of 2012 as the fuel inventory levels are surging.
Stations in the Franklin area are reporting prices around $3.40 for gas this week.
