As People’s Department Store prepares to close, the store’s founder JC Jacobs is being honored this week for his contributions to the community.

Jacobs, who turns 94 today, opened the Franklin landmark on Main Street in 1957, and will close the store at the end of the year.

A special celebration for Jacobs is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at People’s and former employees and the community are invited.

Town of Franklin Officials are honoring Jacobs by proclaiming the week of November 14-20 as JC Jacobs week.
