Upgrades to computers, devices, and infrastructure have begun rolling out and will continue in phases for the next several months.
Technology Director Tim Burrell updated the school board recently on the technology upgrades saying 390 new computers are coming in and they have begun replacing the lab computers, and will soon begin replacing teacher computers.
Additionally, 190 iPads have arrived to launch an e-text book pilot program at Franklin High, Nantahala, and Highlands School.
“In these textbook pilots, the students will actually receive an iPad to take home. They will be their textbooks for those classes. We need to see how that’s going to work and what the feedback is on the usability of those,” Burrell said.
The $1.5 million technology project was awarded from the county commission.
