An area animal shelter with a troubled past is looking toward a brighter future with new leadership.
The facility formerly known as the Boggs Mountain Animal Shelter in Clayton, GA has announced the hiring of a new shelter director.
Christopher Simmons is the new director for the shelter, which is known now as Rabun Paws 4 Life, and the Director of Public Relations for Paws, Jennifer Marcellino, said that they are very excited to have Simmons in place.
“He has a very, very good understanding of the no-kill equation and he loves animals,” said Marcellino. “That’s one of the reasons he was chosen to be the new shelter director.”
The search for a shelter director went on for around two months following the previous shelter director being let go. Late last year, Paws 4 Life took over operations of the shelter.
The Boggs Mountain Shelter was the center of regional news last year after the former director was accused of not keeping her guarantee that the animals would not be euthanized.
