Only a slight change is being reported in the North Carolina jobless rate—according to figures just released by the state’s Department of Commerce.
During December, the overall unemployment rate for North Carolina rose by one-tenth of a percent to 9.2. The rate remains 1.2 percent lower than this time last year.
Employment officials say the Education and Health Services Sector saw the most job gains last month with 5900. Professional and business services added 5000 jobs and manufacturing added 700 in December. Leisure and hospitality jobs fell throughout the state by 1300.
Since December of 2011, North Carolina has reported over 72,000 job gains.
