The South Bound Lane of Addington Bridge Road near Middle Skeenah Road is closed for safety precautions due to a sink hole that occurred after Wednesday’s rain surge.

A pipe has undermined under the pavement of one lane, according to NCDOT Supervisor in Macon County Jim Ashe.

“One lane is still open and there is plenty of sight distance. People can go through the school parking lot and get around it if necessary,” Ashe said.

Crews are working with the adjacent property owner to build a temporary road around it until the sinkhole can be repaired.

Ashe did not specify when the repair would be completed.
