Franklin Fire Crews were dispatched to a blaze at an abandoned house Thursday morning just after 7 a.m. at 107 Old Cat Creek Road.

Franklin Fire Chief Warren Cabe says crews were on scene until around 8:30 a.m.

“It looks like it originated on the outside of the structure. There was some minor damage to one room of the structure. It was actually vacant with no utilities attached. There had been some reports of either vandalism or folks hanging around there. It’s currently under investigation with the police department and arson investigators,” said Cabe.

Shortly after putting the fire out Franklin Fire and Rescue was called to a two-car accident on the Georgia Road near the Community Building.

No injuries were reported, but both northbound lanes of traffic were blocked.
