Town enlists Board of Realtors to help sell old town hall

July 12, 2013

The town of Franklin is seeking a buyer for the old town hall property located at 188 West Main Street.

At their July 1 meeting, aldermen voted to seek help from the Board of Realtors in getting the surplus property sold.

The town board will offer a three and a half percent finder’s fee to a realtor who sells the property. The property is made up of several buildings including offices, vault, kitchen area, and restrooms.

The board did not set a price on the old town hall. It is currently appraised at $725,000.

Prospective buyers could make an offer, which would have to be decided on during a public meeting of the aldermen.
