A Winter Storm Warning takes will be in effect at 6 p.m. tonight for Macon and surrounding counties.
Forecasters say another round of moisture is moving into the area and will combine with cold air for possible heavy snowfall early Wednesday morning.
Accumulation totals will vary throughout Macon County, but the latest model from the National Weather Service shows a potential of 4 to 8 inches through Wednesday night.
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency and if you must travel, be sure to carry your cell phone, wear a warm clothing and boots. You should also keep a blanket, flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The Winter Storm Warning will last until 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
