Well in Pennsylvania its the groundhog and here in Western North Carolina its the wooly worm caterpillar. At a festival in Avery County they’ve been using the color of the wooly worm to indicate what type of winter we could be receiving here in Western North Carolina. This year according to reports by the Asheville Citizen-Times the folks in Avery county have seen a frequency of black wooly worm caterpillars and thats indicating that we may see quite a bit of snow here in our region this winter.
