Alderman Patillo recognized for efforts to revive Main Street

A Town of Franklin leader is receiving state recognition for contributions to Franklin’s Main Street Program.

Alderman Carolyn “Sissy” Patillo was named a 2012 Main Street Champion at the North Carolina Main Street Annual Awards program in Salisbury, NC on January 31.

Patillo was nominated by the Franklin Main Street Program Board of Directors.

The program’s Executive Director Linda Schlott says Sissy has been an active supporter of the Main Street initiative since its inception nearly 7 years ago, “Sissy has been an active supporter of the Franklin Main Street Program since its inception in 2006. Her tireless efforts laid the foundation to bring Franklin, North Carolina forward in its revitalization efforts.”

Alderman Pattillo also has worked with the Town of Franklin, North Carolina to beautify downtown parkways with plantings including new trees. She also serves on the Streets and Sidewalks Committee and has worked to complete new brick sidewalks in Historic Downtown Franklin.
