Macon Humane Society Super Adoption Day this Saturday

More great pets, activities, and a few celebrity appearances are all part of this year’s plans for the Macon County Humane Society Super Adoption Day slated for this Saturday at 398 Westgate Plaza.

This 5th annual event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Susan Schlatter with the Humane Society tells us they’re hoping for a record number of pet adoptions this year.

“Attending not only is the humane society and animal control, but we also have shelters coming from Jackson, Swain, Buncombe, and North Georgia bringing cats and dogs. This year, we are going to have rabbits, ducks, gerbils, and other types of pets we normally don’t have up for adoption.”

If you’ve been considering adopting a pet, this may be the day to do so, with a $45 special on adoptions which includes spay or neuter, rabies shots, micro-chipping, testing, and all shots.

In addition to the pets available for adoptions, lots of other activities and events are on tap including live music, local vendors, raffles, kid’s activities and special appearances by Theo Crane and Melissa Cowan of AMC’s The Walking Dead television series.

“It’s grown to become a big family event. We hope everybody will come; bring the kids, there’s something for everybody there. The main point of all this is we’re looking for good families, who want to adopt and give a good home for some absolutely wonderful pets.”
