FHS celebrates over 300 athletes, 60 coaches

Franklin High School celebrated over 300 athletes and over 60 coaches at the 31st annual Athletic Awards Ceremony Wednesday at the FHS gymnasium.

Panther athletes received honors for achievements on the field and in the classroom. Also many scholarships were handed out to deserving students.

Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim Duncan shared a special message to the students, coaches, and parents in attendance.

Parents don’t ever believe the kids don’t respect what you with them in athletics. They know you’re the ones that have gotten them to practice and washed the uniforms. You have taken care of these guys all this time, and I respect you for that.”

As the banquet wrapped up, the 2012-2013 Outstanding Athletes of the Year were named. For individual sports, the male and female Most Outstanding Athletes were McKayla Hilliard and Blake Randall.

In team sports, the Most Outstanding Athlete Honors went to Brinkley Culpepper and Jacob Davis.

Participation in athletics has been shown repeatedly to have lasting, positive impacts on students.
