NC jobless rate hits four-year low

The unemployment rate in North Carolina has dropped to a four-year low—this according to the latest report out from the Department of Commerce.

The rate fell in April to 8.9 percent—down from 9.2 in March.

The rate is 0.5 percent lower than one year ago. Leisure and hospitality services added the most jobs last month with 6100. Education and health services saw the biggest decrease in jobs losing 2100 jobs.

Since April 2012, the state has gained 73,300 jobs.
