Season Opener for WCU Marks Longest Trip in Program History

Western Carolina football’s 2017 season-opener against Hawai’i on Saturday, Sept. 2 will kick off at 6:00 pm Hawai’i-Aleutian Time / 12:00 am ET when the Catamounts visit the Rainbow Warriors at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, O’ahu in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Broadcast coverage of the game has yet to be announced.

Western Carolina’s 2017 season-opener is a momentous game as it represents the first time that the Catamount football team will play outside the contiguous 48 states in program history.

The trip comes two years removed from what was billed as the longest football road trip in school history as the Catamounts ventured to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M as a part of the 2015 docket.
