Franklin, Cherokee Still Unbeaten, Smoky Wins Big for Homecoming

Week 7 of high school football is now in the books, and two area teams are still undefeated.

The 6-0 Franklin Panthers got a win in the Panther Pit on Friday over the Carolina Wildcats, 54-0. Franklin wrapped up the non-conference portion of the season with an undefeated record, and will now travel to Hendersonville on Friday evening to take on the 4-2 Bearcats in the first conference game of the season.

The Smoky Mountain Mustangs got back on track for homecoming, beating the Madison Patriots 59-12 in Sylva on Friday. This week, the 3-3 Mustangs will also open up conference play with a trip to 4-2 Pisgah.

The Cherokee Braves are now 6-0, and 1-0 in conference after travelling to Bryson City and coming away with a 45-7 victory over the Swain County Maroon Devils. This week, the Braves will play host to 2-5 Rosman. With the loss, the Maroon Devils dropped to 2-5 on the season, and 1-1 in Smoky Mountain Conference play. This week, Swain will be at home again, as they play host to the 1-6 Andrews Wildcats.
