WCU Football Ranked Again this Week
After battling fifth-ranked Wofford into overtime last weekend in Spartanburg, Western Carolina football advanced in both of the national polls released on Monday afternoon. The Catamounts moved up one spot in both of the national polls this week, climbing to 21st in the FCS media poll while debuting at No. 25 in the latest FCS Coaches Poll.
Also in the latest FCS Power Rankings the Catamounts ranked out at No. 19 for a second-consecutive week.
Western Carolina (4-2, 2-1 SoCon) moved into the national rankings a week ago at No. 22 in the STATS FCS poll, the first time the Catamounts had graced a Top 25 poll since 2006 when it held the same ranking by the media vote. After sitting just outside of the Top 25 last week as the first team in the “others receiving votes” category in 26th overall, WCU moved into the coaches’ tabulations for the first time since ranking 23rd, also coming back in 2006.
