Franklin Falls, Cherokee One Step Away from State Title Game

Round 3 of the state high school football playoffs saw the Franklin Panthers season come to a close, and the Cherokee Braves earn a spot in round 4.

The Franklin Panthers were undefeated going into the round 3 matchup with the also undefeated Hibriten Panthers in Lenoir. Hibriten was able to take Franklin down, handing the Panthers their first loss and ending their season in the 3rd round of the state playoffs. Franklin finished the season with a 13-1 mark, and went undefeated in the Mountain Six Conference, earning them the conference title.

The Cherokee Braves were able to keep their season going, as they played host to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons, and came out on top, 47-20. This week, the Braves will travel to Mitchell for a round 4 matchup, with the winner playing for the 1A State Championship next week on December 9th. The Braves will be looking for revenge over the Mountaineers, as Mitchell beat Cherokee twice last season, ending the Braves run in the playoffs a season ago.
