Cherokee Avenges Loss to Mitchell, Will Play for State Title

The Cherokee Braves have a chance to bring home a football State Championship, after winning on Friday against #1 seeded in the Western side of the 1A bracket, the Mitchell Mountaineers.

The Braves were able to exact revenge on the Mountaineers, after Mitchell took Cherokee down twice last year, the Mountaineers were no match for the Braves on Friday, as Cherokee won 42-28 in Bakersville.

That sets up the Braves in the State Championship game, as they will be taking on another playoff foe from last season, the North Duplin Rebels.

The game will be played at the home of the NC State Wolfpack, Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh on Saturday at Noon.
