Round 2 of the Baseball / Softball Playoffs in the Books

Round two of the state high school playoffs is now in the books.

The 2 seeded Franklin Panthers Softball team was able to come away with a 2-1 victory in 8 innings over Ledford Senior High School in Franklin on Friday evening. Up next, the Panthers will play host to the 10 seeded Mount Pleasant Tigers on Tuesday evening.

The Franklin Panthers Baseball team saw their season come to an end in Lexington, at the hands of the North Davidson Black Knights. The game was originally scheduled to take place on Friday evening, but rain and hail caused the game to be pushed back to Saturday. The Panthers fell to the Knights by the final score of 3-1, ending Franklin’s season. On the year, the Panthers finish at 16-8 overall.

The Smoky Mountain Mustang Baseball team will be playing in round 3, thanks to a 6-5 victory over Lincolnton in Sylva on Friday. Up next, the Mustangs will be playing host to 5 seeded Forbush on Tuesday.
